Pool Waterproofing

Application area · Pools and water tanks

In a pool, the water must always stay inside

Pools and water tanks operate under constant water pressure; chlorinated water, temperature differences and movement put the waterproofing under strain. Over time, even a small leak causes permanent damage to the concrete and reinforcement.

Izowhite pool solutions bring together products that work from within the concrete and on its surface: Powercon, resistant to chlorinated water and suitable for use in drinking water tanks; Kristalize, resistant to negative and positive water pressure; fully elastic Two-Component under tiles; and UV-resistant Water Cutter, which can be left exposed.

Application

Pool waterproofing step by step

  1. The surface is cleaned of oil, rust, cement residue and dirt; it must be sound and clean.
  2. Large pores and cracks are filled with repair mortar.
  3. Vertical and horizontal junctions are bridged with geotextile felt, mesh or chamfer tape.
  4. The surface is dampened; Izowhite Powercon is brushed on in two or three coats, each coat perpendicular to the previous one.
  5. Each coat is applied while the previous one is starting to set but is still fresh.
  6. Outdoor surfaces are protected from sun, wind, frost and rain for the first 24 hours.
  7. On surfaces to be tiled, Izowhite Two-Component is applied under the tiles.

Frequently asked questions about pool waterproofing

Can Powercon be used in drinking water tanks?

Yes. Izowhite Powercon is suitable for use in drinking water tanks and is resistant to contact with chlorinated water.

What is the difference between Kristalize and Powercon?

Kristalize is a one-component mortar that penetrates the capillary pores of cement-based surfaces and is resistant to negative and positive water pressure. Powercon, on the other hand, is a two-component, fully elastic waterproofing material that is added to concrete and plaster or applied to the surface; it bridges shrinkage cracks.

Which product should be used if the pool is to be tiled?

Under tiles, Izowhite Two-Component or Powercon is used; both form a waterproof layer under the tiles.
